Drug info for parents who Practice Active Prevention from Drugs
They are more likely to perform regular screening of their children. A real active prevention!
How to protect our children from drugs?
Thousands of parents are asking the same question today and are often completely clueless about this problem outside the norm.
For years, there was the dialogue. It is true that talking about drugs and open discussion must be done. Your children should know the dangers and know about side effects of taking drugs. Talk regularly about it and ask questions frank and direct (but with a lot of openness) whether drugs circulate around them in their school or their friends. This is actually the basis of prevention that can safe the family.
Why is it a drug problem at hand?
This problem is like the very topical issue of overweight among youth. Like many parents, you may forbid your children to snack between meals. However, if you notice abuse, you do not, however, forbid them to eat.
By cons, in (almost) all families, drug use is totally prohibited. The dialogue which we spoke above has the advantage of a clear message to all teens: drugs are totally forbidden.
But remember, your 15 years ... To hear a message does not necessarily mean that we accept to understand. Adolescence is a stage where the desire to experiment can sometimes obscure the dangers, or the fact that they are prohibited. Teens are often looking for different experiences, without constraint, and not limited to what is allowed.
Faced with the drugs, your children are a bit like Adam and Eve. They understand the rules, but there is no guarantee that they will stand up to eat the apple.
The dialogue alone does protect your children?
We have read that the dialogue is the best prevention, that nothing goes into force with teens, and too much control outrageously violate their privacy, which could only block them permanently.
What’s more, we must let children and teens express themselves and make their own mistakes to learn life. In many areas, it is indisputable, because no one can do some experiments for them. By cons, some errors may have serious consequences, especially as they quickly become addictive.
Adolescents who begin smoking tobacco or cannabis, sniffing lines of cocaine or who take ecstasy are really difficult spoken with.
What is the worst of evils – permissiveness or interference with privacy?
All adolescents who have drug problems have one thing in common: they try to hide it no matter what their parents. To keep their secret, they have no choice but to lie regularly to their families and friends how they spend their money. They become suspicious and even paranoid. They can not stop thinking that they could be taken. Much like a person on the run, they quickly become nervous, irritable and taciturn.
Very often parents treat their children like adults. Nevertheless, a teenager is not an adult and makes nonsense appropriate to the age, and for other parents, this trust will be a tragic mistake.
Warning: there is neither good nor bad choice. Only your choice, based on intimate knowledge you have of your own children and your family.
