In 2010, the state's electors wanted to legalize the production of marijuana and its sales. Nowadays Californians want to make one more step to the legalization of marijuana because now they have young enough electorate and more money. And as a result, legalization of marijuana is really possible.
As for marijuana advocates, they can't cancel the federal laws and according to them marijuana can be grown for medical purposes. And as a result, they want that alteration in California will make Washington to change these laws. So, in November 2012 we’ll see if there are any changes in the law about marijuana.
It will be discussed some changes, as for example, allowing to grow marijuana for people who smoke it and, what’s more, joining consumer-owned cooperatives which will grow marijuana for them. Specialists say that such methods will help to stop growing marijuana use.
Frankly speaking, criminals get about $10 billion a year from selling marijuana; thousands of drug-trafficking organizations kill more and more people every day everywhere. And only think about thousands of people who are in prison for illegal marijuana-dealing in the USA. What’s more, each day lots of marijuana possession are arrested. Actually, repeal in California can hardly deal with all the problems; however, it is, in fact, obviously that we need some changes in the laws.
As for marijuana, very often users smoke it infrequently, so they don’t do any harm to their health. However, it’s really the fact that growing the number of these users won’t be a large public problem. On the other hand, marijuana use is focused with regular users and, in fact their increase is unwanted. Moreover, there is a big growth of marijuana use with students of middle-school and high-school.
Frankly speaking, most people nowadays are really ready to the changes, so we really wish the voters will make reasonable steps in relation to marijuana.
